The Team
Me, Anna Heatwole, and Lindsay Shelmire and I were the trio working on iterative research, marketing brainstorming, script writing, web design, andcreative copywriting. I worked mainly on art direction and logo design, with the help of the animation talent Galen Drew and Morgan Kim for the launch video below.
The Process
With our focus groups of students in Spokane and Pierce, we explored the meaning and value of after school programs in their lives. Using a mascot art project, poetry, word bubble brainstorm, and personal sharing, we got to see the unique impact of these programs on student lives. For branding, this led us down several symbolic paths, which we then pursued and presented to School's Out Washington. After they selected The Sparkwind Movement, we created three logos (see above) for the students and Washington Residents to vote on. Here's a glimpse into some of the process:
